Definitely not the best in town. Salsa was very good. Fresh, spicy, full of cilantro. House margarita was neon green....never a sign of freshness unless your limes fall of the tree glowing (mine do not). I had chicken fajitas. They were average but swimming in grease. My husband had a quesadilla which was also average. It's a fine place to go if you need somewhere in Liberty Park, but don't go out of your way.

Best Mexican restaurant in town! Always fresh, great menu selection. Closest thing you will find to authentic, not your ordinary heat it up and serve it Mexican. Will continue to make this my go to. Also very clean and well decorated.

This was a great dining experience. Quick service and excellent food. I started with the tortillia soup, one of the best I have ever had and then onto the steak buritto with rice and beans. Very large portion and i just about cleaned my plate. I travel to Birmingham 1-2 times per month and will definately be back.

Leon Nachos were great. Loved visiting the new restaurant from the owners of Mexico Lindo, one of my favorite places in all of Birmingham. I will be back.

This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. The food is great, the service is wonderful, and it's a great value. We love to dine here.

A good neighborhood spot. The first few times I went, I was concerned about the salt and the crying babies, but I've continued to go and have really begun to enjoy it. The service is fantastic, and if you sit at the bar, get to know Elizabeth. She is the margharita master for this place! The happy hour is very good and the customer service is fantastic. The Cheese Dip is good, the steak fajitas are good , the chicken taco salad is OK, the fried ice cream is good, the margaritas are usually very good if you get Elizabeth (she'll tailor them - i'm not a fan of lots of sugar). The laid-back atmosphere and the customer service elevate it to a 3 - especially considering that Blilly's is the only other game in the neighborhood.

Bar service is awesome. They have the best happy hour. Food is authentic and fresh. Must try - fish tacos, chick quesadillas, guacamole dip and oh my, their cheese dip. Nice front patio to enjoy this sunny beautiful weather while sipping on their great selections of wine and margaritas.

Just ate here for the first time in awhile. When we came in we saw a guy eating a huge burger. We asked our server (who was awesome!) and he said the burgers are excellent. My husband ordered the Lindo Burger and loved it!! It was so big that he could only eat half which is unheard of for him. The other food was great too but the burger was definitely the best thing we ordered. Service was excellent!! We will be back very soon!

Leon's is fantastic. I eat there regularly and take new people with me all the time. Everyone comments on how good the salsa is and I have never heard someone complain about a dish. All of the wait staff is good but I almost always sit in Jose's section because he take especially good care of me. I have a 3 and 6 year old and it is one of their favorite places. We enjoy taking them there as well because we usually see several tables with kids and the lively atmosphere drowns out any concerns of upsetting other patrons. If you haven't been and you are in the mood for Mexican food I wouldn't hesitate to check out Leon's.

Leon's was a great surprise we found because of Yelp! The atmosphere was great, not very busy, but authentic Mexican artwork and furniture. The waiter we had was very informative and friendly, answering any questions we had about any of the meals on the menu and specials through the week. We started with the Queso and guac and they were both very delicious. I am not a huge fan of the smooth guac, but it was good none the less. The Queso was superb and tastes fresh. I had the black bean soup for an appy, it was delicious and I recommend it big time! If I could make an improvement on it, it would be to add more heat on it. But other than that, it was awesome! For the entree I had the steak and chicken enchilada. For the lunch menu, there was plenty of it! The meat was tender and the tortillas were made perfectly. The rice was fluffy and fresh. My only complaint was on the steak, there were some pieces that was a little fatty, but it didn't take away from the taste. Great atmosphere, service, and food! I'll be back again!

First time I've gotten the nachos & chocolate chimichangas. Both are very good. While I was waiting I was served an excellent top shelve margarita.

Love Leons! It's near my house and the food is good. Service is always friendly and efficient. They have aome pretty decent wine offerings though their wine is a little on the pricey side. If you get a margarita, go for the top shelf. Worth the price difference.

Worst dining experience I have had in a very long time. We waited over an hour for our food and once it came, I literally choked down two pieces of rubber chicken smothered in Monterrey Jack cheese (yes, the kind anyone could dump over a dish from a bag). The margaritas are from a mix, nothing special here. What sealed the one star rating for Leon is the owner. He was milling around the bar and we told him we waited over an hour for our food. He shrugged his shoulders, grabbed himself a beer from behind the bar and gave us a blank stare. Yes, he does have the 'captive audience' of Liberty Park residents; not an excuse to stop caring about your patrons, serve boring drinks and sub par food. I would drive to Timbuktu before I eat there again.

There are two dishes here that are a must have the pork pasilla (amazing) and the chicken adobo. This is some of the best food in Birmingham! Amazing service and such fresh and unique food.

Excellent! I actually like this location better than the previous location as Zona Rosa. But the food is still delicious. We've tried almost all the entrees listed on the right side of the menu and I can promise you won't go wrong selecting any of them. Particularly good are any of the pork and seafood dishes. Last night we tried one of their appetizers, the Queso Fundido with Chorizo (with onions, tomatoes, peppers) and all I can say is that I will be dreaming about it for days to come. The margaritas are great too!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
